Accelerated CFP Certification Education Program

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Developed jointly with Jeffrey Rattiner, CFP®, CPA, RFC, of JR Financial Group, Inc., this “fast-track” program combines structured self-study with intensive instructor-led classroom review to provide a comprehensive seven-month financial planning education designed to meet the education requirements to take the CFP® Certification Exam. The program employs the course model developed for Rattiner’s Financial Planning Fast Track®, an innovative approach to financial planning education that won critical acclaim in the December 2001 issue of Financial Planning Magazine.

During the program, you will take five courses covering all the essential financial planning topics:

  • Financial Planning Process and Insurance
  • Investment Planning
  • Income Tax Planning
  • Employee Benefit and Retirement Planning
  • Estate Planning

Each course provides six weeks of structured self-study, followed by an intensive four-day in-class review at Ohio State. During these instructor-led sessions, you will examine course topics in-depth, through quizzes, case studies and application problems, to develop your understanding of financial planning tools and techniques.

When you successfully complete these five courses, you will take the Comprehensive Review Course, also offered with the same delivery format (six weeks of self-study followed by four days of intensive classroom instruction). The accelerated program employs review course materials developed by Keir Educational Resources, Inc., a major publisher in financial planning education.

When you finish the review course, you will be ready to take the CFP® Certification Exam – just nine months from the start of your first course! Among students who have completed programs based on Rattiner's Financial Planning Fast-Track®, the pass rate on the CFP® Certification Exam is an impressive 75 percent.
