This course takes you through the basics of the career development process from exploration to interviewing. We begin by covering methods of exploring careers through various tools and assessments and implementing a career exploration plan. The next sessions discuss effective marketing through resume and cover letter writing, successful job search strategies and career networking, and finally interview skills development.

Topics include:

Charting a Career: This class reviews the essentials of effective career planning. We discuss some methods of discovering career options and researching them through formal assessments, informational interviews, and career information resources. We also examine a typical career exploration plan to help you discover your career target.

Writing Resumes That Get Noticed: This class covers the basics of effective resume and cover letter writing. We review the components of a targeted resume and cover letter and discuss strategies for turning them into a marketing brochure for your qualifications.

Career Networking and Effective Job Search Strategies: This class covers how to network and implement successful job search strategies. We discuss methods of building and maintaining your career network as well as how to get the most out of your job search.

Interview for Success: This class develops your interview skills through reviewing successful strategies, discussing effective preparation techniques for the process, and follow-up procedures that may help you stand out from other applicants.
