Coaching Your Employees to Success

This course helps managers, supervisors, and team leaders define the qualities of an effective coach, build a coaching foundation, and plan a coaching strategy. Identifying employee personality types, building trust, and maintaining healthy coach-employee relationships will be addressed. You will learn how to use spoken and nonverbal communication to convey your message and to use effective questioning to get needed information. 8 hours (Textbook required)

Course Outline:

Week 1: Fundamentals of Coaching; Identifying qualities of an effective coach; Build a coaching foundation and develop coaching strategy

Week 2: Coaching diverse employees; Motivating employees by identifying individual personality types; Building trusting relationships with employees

Week 3: The coaching process; Establishing a solid coaching foundation through healthy coach-employee relationships; Understanding coaching objectives and communicating the expectations and goals to employees

Week 4: Communication; Expressing clear messages; Identifying/using nonverbal methods; Asking questions effectively to receive desired information

Teaching/Learning Methods: 

Designed for managers, supervisors, or team leaders who need to learn about coaching to motivate and improve employee job performance, this course will enable the learner to:

  • Define coaching and identify the qualities of an effective coach; and build a coaching foundation and plan a coaching strategy.
  • Motivate employees by identifying their individual personality types; and build trusting coach-employee relationships.
  • Work through the coaching process of maintaining healthy coach-employee relationships, communicating expectations and goals, and evaluating employee performance.
  • Use language and nonverbal methods to clearly communicate your message; and retrieve the desired information by using effective questioning.
  • Conduct effective face-to-face meetings and confrontations.
