Networking is the process of establishing contacts within the industry or company you are targeting in your career search and is the most successful method of gaining employment. To begin building your network, start with people that you already have a connection to in order to gain access or referrals to professionals within your target industry. You can also build network connections through formal networking events, joining clubs or organizations, volunteering and through informational interviewing. Networking is not all about your career needs. Successful networking focuses on establishing a mutually beneficial professional relationship, and it must be maintained to truly be effective.
