Learning Objectives:

Overall objective of the course is to gain familiarity and beginning level ability with spoken Japanese. A by-product is awareness of habits and elements of the language for enjoyment to further develop speaking skill.

Course Outline:

Week 1: Introduction to Japanese sounds
a) Reading exercises of sounds
b) Useful daily expressions, Introducing Mr.____ to Mr. ____. This is my business card.

Week 2: A review of Lesson 1
a) How to count in Japanese
b) Lesson 2, Address and telephone numbers
c) Exercises with sounds and verbs

Week 3: A review
a) Lesson 3 Day and time
b) Exercises with verbs

Week 4: Numbers and counting some items
a) Lesson 4, "How much is ______?" and numbers
b) Exercise with adjectives and demonstrative pronouns

Week 5: A review
a) Lesson 5, Counting objects
b) Exercises with verbs and adjectives

a) Lesson 6 Lesson 21, Going and coming; How to order a taxi
